NoFo Brew Co has added two more medals to their trophy case from the 2023 U.S. Open Beer Championship. The North Georgia brewery took home a bronze medal for Bluebird Day in the Bohemian Pilsner category, as well as a bronze for Collateral in the Mexican Lager category. This is the first medal Bluebird Day Pilsner has received from the U.S. Open Beer Championship and Collateral’s second medal from the competition, also taking home hardware in 2022.

Named from the term “bluebird day” which is used to describe clear weather, typically after a night of snowfall on the slopes, Bluebird Day is a crisp, Czech pilsner, best paired with a beautiful day spent outdoors. This pilsner has been served at NoFo Cumming since their opening in 2019.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by your peers for doing what you love. Our community helps guide us in the right direction for success and inspires me daily. I am truly happy to be a part of such a great group of talented individuals,” says Jason Ford, Head Brewer at NoFo Brew Co Cumming.

In the spring of 2021, Collateral made its debut. This Mexican lager has quickly become a fan favorite with its light, easy, and dangerously crushable body. After their Gainesville location opens its doors in the coming weeks, guests will be able to find both of these award winning brews at all three of their locations across North Georgia.

Andrew Greene, Head Brewer at NoFo Brew Co Gainesville noted, “We work really hard to produce great beers and for two of our cores to be recognized, is very rewarding. And it’s the 2nd year in a row for Collateral which is exciting.”

The U.S. Open Beer Championship judges more beer styles than any other competition in the world, as the judges conduct a blind tasting of over 9,000 beers and choose the top performers across 150 categories. This competition is held at the U.S. Open Event Center in Oxford, Ohio. The Top 10 winning breweries overall are featured on BeerInfo.com while the coveted “Grand National Championship’s Plaque” is awarded to the top brewery.

Jonny Bradley, Director of Brewing & Distilling Operations at NoFo, shares his thoughts on their recent success: “For Collateral to medal two years in a row really shows our community that our team is going out of their way to pay attention to details and consistency with our beers. Winning a medal with Bluebird Day Pilsner is also a true honor, especially with it being one of my favorite beers we brew. Huge shoutout to all our fellow Georgia craft breweries who also brought home some hardware.”
