The Midland Arts District of Gainesville is quickly becoming a hot spot for locally owned businesses along the Midland Greenway and the many people who walk or bike it. With so many new shops and restaurants bringing in high traffic of both locals and tourists, finding a great parking spot can sometimes be a challenge. Here’s a list of five free parking lots within easy walking distance of NoFo Gainesville.

Gainesville Skatepark: 2 to 3 minute walk

Located at the corner of Pine Street and High Street, the Gainesville Skatepark is an easy two to three minute walk from your parking spot to the patio gate. Enjoy a stroll past the pond and a possible geese sighting as you head up the greenway to enjoy a refreshing drink. With direct sight to NoFo and the new greenway mural, this parking lot is a top pick. Sit back, relax, and savor your beverage in the taproom or on the patio. Take in a beautiful view overlooking the Midland Greenway and pond, this view is particularly spectacular at sunset.

Engine 209 Park: 2 to 3 minute walk

Also a short two to three minute walk south of NoFo Gainesville is Engine 209 Park. Framed by MLK Jr Blvd, Grove St, and Davis St, the park is right on the Midland Greenway. From there it’s a quick and easy walk past the Love Freedom mural on your way to the taproom. Enjoy learning about Gainesville-Midland Train Engine 209, the former rail line that the Midland Greenway now follows, and its significance in the history of Gainesville.
